Reverse A

Mintmark has first C low and away from arrow, second C also low and centered between the arrow and the leaf. Both Cs are tilted to the right, with the first C tilted the most.

Low Close CC #1, both tilted to the right

Numerous die cracks develop early, including severe ones at TWENTY.

Prominent die cracks at TWENTY

Numerous radial die cracks develop along the right side as well (see next page for die cracks detail).

Comments: This die marriage was first reported in May 2013 with just a few examples known. This is the first use of this obverse die. This is the only use of this reverse die, which apparently cracked severely almost immediately after beginning to strike coins.

Scarcity: This die marriage appears to be quite rare, representing only about 1% of all surviving 1875-CC coins. Rarity rating: R-5.
